Sokikom - Behavior Management
Sokikom is an app that is built right into Edmodo. Each student can create his or her own Sokikom avatar. This avatar is then able to earn digital cash by performing well in class. The cash is then used to buy new accessories for the avatar. To earn additional cash, there are also math games that students can play. Full behavior reports can be printed out for parent signing or teacher records.
I created this video to show how I use it in my room.

Badges
Students can earn teacher-created "badges" or digital awards. The badges will show up in the students profile. Some students find this very motivating, especially if you stay on top of it. You can use badges that other teachers have created too. Visit my profile, I have 90 or so useful badges (visit).
Basic Sharing
Edmodo acts as work-around email/text messaging account. You can have all messages forwarded to your mobile device. Since students enjoy checking Edmodo to see what their friends are doing, it becomes a great place to communicate valuable information. You can post videos, pictures, web links to visit, or documents for students to download.
In the below examples, a student is asking what the homework was. Also, you can watch this Youtube video on how to post a link, image, document, or video. |
